Isheka Barrett

My name is Isheka Barrett. I am from the beautiful island of Jamaica. I am excited to begin a new chapter of my career as a third grade teacher at Monroe Charter Academy. I have been teaching for 13 years. I have served as a first grade teacher for eight years in Jamaica and five years here with Union County Public schools as an International Exchange Educator/ Cultural Ambassador. During my tenure at UCPS I taught first grade for the first three years and Gifted Education for the last two years. I have also hosted a Cultural club, a Drumming Club and co- hosted a Dance club.

I achieved my Teaching Diploma in Early Childhood Education with a minor in music at Sam Sharpe Teacher’s College and my Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Grade Education at Western Carolina University. At MCA, I am looking forward to creating a safe and nurturing learning environment that will inspire hope, ignite imagination and enable all students to be lifelong global learners who will truly achieve success through education.
