Mission & Profile

Our Mission:

Our mission is to develop each child into an academically thriving citizen, by partnering with parents and the community, utilizing high expectations and a rigorous classical education, delivered with purposeful and spirited devotion.

About Us:

Monroe Charter Academy (Academy) is a new charter school located in Monroe, North Carolina serving the children of Union and surrounding counties. We will open August 2019 in facilities at 200 Tomberlin St. in Monroe. We will serve 288 children in grades K-3 this year and add a grade level each year thereafter until we have grades K-5 and 450 student scholars.

The Academy is managed by a board of directors and authorized by the NC State Board of Education. We are a free public school, open to all NC students, offering a classical style of education, a rigorous curriculum, and a focus on citizenship development.

We believe children may not be products of our environments as much as they are products of our expectations. Academic excellence, along with the development of the child’s character and life skills, will be our blended and uncompromising objectives. We will teach children classically, in the natural ways they want to learn, but with rigor. Our educators will maintain a purposeful cognizance of our academic goals and will deliver the education with undisguised love of their vocations and our children.

A Message From The Board:

Welcome Monroe Charter Academy Families!

It has been over a year since submitting our application to the State and finally, the time has arrived for the Grand Opening of Monroe Charter Academy!

This school, like so many Charter Schools, began as just an idea. That idea grew with the generosity of altruistic, like-minded individuals, making Monroe Charter Academy the first Classical Charter School in Union County!

Our aim is not simply to offer you another choice in education. We hope that you will come to see, as we have, that this school is more than that. Monroe Charter is not only giving your children a solid foundation in education, but also a model for life, providing your children the tools that will enable them to become their own teachers throughout their lifetimes.

We look forward to seeing future great thinkers – independent and critical thinkers – walking the halls of Monroe Charter Academy this year and for many years to come!
